hey check it out! kim wrote me a kick-ass poem about renewal. I'm going to read it at a party I'm going to for the Persian new year. everyone has to bring a poem to read. I think she did SO good, and it only took her 20 minutes, she said. is that rockstar, or is that rockstar? here it is:renewal today i tore up my diary my putrid lame sunshine -- oh my god!
rebellion.
today i tore up my diary my putrid lame sunshine -- oh my god!
rebellion.
who and who and what? who with? what with? all crumpled, torn
i'm sending some pages off. here and there -- to the south and west, who is my mother. i would not throw away that scrap, receipt, this letter, that sugar packet, the photo of you when you were two that you gave me when we thought we knew what love was.
but i'm doing it now. burning down the paper house. building a new one from stronger fibers. steel wool
the contents of my wallet/life when on display -- so bare. nervousness wondering what you're thinking of me, if anything.
blackboard, partially unerased. and when i finally wash it clean it's the end of the school year.
renewal
in september new class roster you're so-and-so's younger sister, brother, cousin something never your own name identity what's the use? burn the school down? it's always the same in this town
