He holds his thumb to his ring & pinkie finger, index and middle extended, concentrating on the idea that there is a light at the tip of those two fingers, a light that can open doors. And when he reaches for the door it opens and he's convinced it all works. -- A - I spend time looking at a tree today, trying to see patterns in the trees. Trying to see if there was a message there for me. B - Usually, if I'm of a mind to listen to what trees have to say, I listen. I don't look. A - Makes sense to me. No wonder I didn't learn anything. -- A monk looks out at a snowstorm. His disciple says "How dreadful! Look at all the snow! It's all over the place and our paths between our buildings are disappearing." The monk says "Every snowflake lands where it must." And he waits for the disciple to ponder the meaning of that. Determinism and all that. But the disciple says "I'm gonna have to shovel all that." -- If you were going to talk to the dead, you'd have the best luck with voodoo. Voodoo says we carry our ancestors with us. And the further back the ancestors go, the more they merge into the loa, which are like archetypes, which are like gods, but they used to be us. They still are us. They can possess us and make us dance and answer questions. You want to talk to a dead relative? Let him or her possess you. Or let the loa ride you and through them get the contact you seek. Because this is from science: all of our ancestors are carried in our DNA. So when the loa ride us, is this not tapping into a DNA database? A gathering of our ancestors in scattered pieces reimagined and reconstructed until we speak in their voices? -- It sounds crazy but if it works, should not craziness remain an option? Keep yer toolbelt full, is the thought. If I tried, could I contact my father in a trance state? It would be cheaper than picking up the phone. I could even burn some incense. |
