2000-02-25 14:38:56 holy smokes do you know how much I love the mp3s on my computer? ferfooksake, I can't even tell you. considering that the thing I love most in the world is just sitting and listening to records, it pleases me very greatly during these long office days that I'm totally rock steady on the d drive. Simmy was looking at the songs I have and she was like "you have the wierdest assortment of songs." and I was all "I think it suits me." and she was all "do you?" and I said "yes I do." here are some of my favorite songs. maybe you, dairyland reader, like some of the same songs as I do? that would be so cool. we could meet at my locker after class and you could come over and play records with me. yes you could. here are some of my favorites: air supply-all out of love. an acknowledged classic. beatnuts - watch out now. so good. SO GOOD. britney spears - 2 remixes of baby one more time, 5 remixes of you drive me crazy, and 6 versions of born to make you happy, which incidently is often overlooked but is far and away my favorite favorite britney song, because it's totally creepy, i think. it's kinda like every breath you take, in that it's popular with the kids, but probably they don't see the (rather obvious, i think) sinister undercurrent. a little christina aguilera, most notably her version of the xmas song, which is so good, plus a remix of genie which is better than the original. some aphex twin, a few songs from fiona apple's newest album, some ginuwine. oh, the studio and a live version of landslide by fleetwood mac. now that's a song, people. foxy brown's hot spot. totally rocking. oh oh oh, one of the all time greats, tijuana taxi by herb alpert. that's our official web developer's theme here at my office for some reason. it just fits. barracuda. i'd do anything, by Jay-Z. seriously, this song is so good. i'm aware of the fact that it sounds exactly the same as hard knock life, but it's really way better, and the song is about really cool stuff, like family and junk, and the video made me get all teary, because the kids draw a picture of a big house they wished they lived in, but mom is stuggling to make ends meet, and then at the end the son is all grown up and he surprises his mom, who's all old now, but driving her to a house he bought for them, and it looks just like the picture he drew and saved all these years. so good! well then shut up if you don't agree. if you had issues about your family you'd like it too, so there. the WHOLE kittie album, don't forget. some mary poppins. the new nsync single (bye bye bye) which is SO dance-tastic. player, baby come back. no explanation needed, i'm sure. some bollywood stuff, like taal se taal mila. soundbombing. lots of mos def and talib kweli. and lots of other stuff but also some white lion. and i've said if before and I'll say it more, but the white lion version of radar love has always and will always kick so much hieny! and while I'm writing this entry I'm listening to Maria Muldaurs' Midnight at the Oasis. Popularized by Katherine O'Hara and Fred Allen in the movie Waiting for Guffman. SO GOOD!!!!!! ROCK ON!!!! k |
