2000-11-28 20:58:37 So this morning I was thinking about styling products. For hair, you know? I remember several years ago when Vidal Sassoon was fairly new and hip. And all of a sudden out of the blue they made a product called "Air Spray." Now I was really too young to even care about my hair enough to get products for it, but this spray to me seemed the wave of the future. This was the very early nineties and there was the big hub bub about CFC's in refrigerators and aerosol sprays causing the hole in the ozone and such things. So Vidal Sassoon (oh, those innovative French) made a hairspray that sprayed like aerosol WITHOUT the CFC's!! I made my mother buy it for me. I pumped and pumped and pumped and then sprayed. It worked like magic - just like they said! Then I realized that I had no need for hair spray at such a young age. But it was great. Like those Reebok pump basketball shoes. They were SO expensive for a middle class family, such that I had at the time, and still have now. But the point... my brother got my parents, OUR parents to buy him those shoes. And they were everything Reebok promised. He could slamdunk ANWHERE. No, not really. But it was sooo much fun to pump those things up. And the air spray too. I don't think they still make either of those things. Maybe they do in factories in India somewhere. Manual pumping was what the nineties were about. And clear cola drinks. We in America like to buy these things. AND HOW! We buy so much that we even made a Buy Nothing Day. How foolish. |
