This is terrible timing, I realize, but we're going to have to cancel this story as all the characters who were to feature in it have all just died, right before you got here to read this first sentence.
I think you really would have liked them. Many of them knew each other, which is part of why the majority were in one place when they all perished. The police were just here and when they explained what happened, it all made sense, but now that they're gone, I'm under the full weight of this tragedy. The details are away from me right now. That's the best way I can describe it. I'm sure they'll come back, but everything seems like it's distant, like I'm listening to a radio while my head is submerged under the water line in a bath tub.
The story was going to introduce them in turn, providing key physical attributes, building the web of relationships.
No point now.
It's not your fault. You just... you arrived when you could. We couldn't expect you any earlier.
You just missed them.
